"Live Cyborgin" - Track 1 - DRUMOPERATOR Original Modular Synth Electronic

in #dsound7 years ago (edited)

Today I'm posting the first track from my new collection of live modular synth electronic music, "Live Cyborgin". I started this track late night a few days ago after a grueling day in the studio. My workflow lately has consisted of freeform sound design and melody brainstorming at night and refinement & capture before my session starts the next day. After seeing @jamesorvis 's #songaday challenge, I knew I had to get on top of it. The Against The Clock series put out by FACT Magazine is one of my all time favorite video series, and I am extremely excited to bring this sort of content to Steemit. Brainstorming, capturing the live video and working my magic on the mix and mastering the next day for DSound is something that is only going to serve to better my skills.

Patch wise, noting changed from capture to mixdown ... I did however tweak the settings on my beloved Prophet 600. Polyphonic synthesis in modular synth world is cost prohibitive and generally unruly. You would be amazed how difficult it is to get four note polyphony playing as nice as the cheapest modern synthesiser. I greatly prefer leaning on my Prophet and shipping its output directly into the modular. Here it is hitting the Erica Synth Black Hole DSP and receiving some subtle waves of modulation to the filter cut off on it's reverb ... and generally doing a pretty sweet job of gently filling out the track. Playing the Prophet from the Push 2 is a treat ... chords are -incredibly- easy to come up with once you understand the way the push formats notes in a nine note square. Winning combination and one of the main reasons my Prophet continues to thrive where so many other polysynths have dipped in and out of my collection.

Upvoted in the blind because too lazy for google translate. Hope this doesn't mean "Musicans are garbage, especially this clown @drumoperator."

Correction: actually I very much hope this is what it says.

Really nice tune bro, I like the uplifting good moods and not so pretentious melodies that transport me in my childhood/adolescence where I stay indoor and play videogames and that's all that matters. This song made me happy, thank you for that!

I was scrolling through the music I liked these days because I want to re-listen everything and I notice somehow I missed this one... I was absolutely certain I've already voted for it :)))) so there, no I did :P

Very cool. This turns my life into a video game. I'm ready for the next level.

4:15 things goes crazy :D

Nice tune man, kinda has a chiptune vibe, or at least feels like it should be in a classic video game. Really like the wetness of the one sound. Im going to hop on this #songaday challenge once my pro one is fixed...maybe ill get to that now :-)

Boom chiki chiki boom really amazing music with a lot of perfect beats ... enjoyed the song. Exceeded my expectations bro. Upvoted and resteemed

Some great analog sounds and production, nice job

Very cool track, man! Love the tempo and harmonies. Takes me back to videogames era :)

great stuff man, as always. Man I wish I spoke robot and could understand what you're talking about when you get into the nuts and bolts of it all hahaha

Nice man I like
