Behind the Scenes: Augmented Worlds- Volume 3

in #dsound7 years ago (edited)

Greetings Steemit Land!

Today I share with you the third installment of my commentary on my debut album, Augmented Worlds. This is the first installment I have uploaded to @dsound since I've only recently been able to get my music up here. But I was able to combine the three songs into one track though, so you can listen to them all more conveniently! Ok, here we go:

Track 9 - Anonymous Lives (feat. Andy Renz)

This is another track with singer Andy Renz, from Mexico (goes by Kavi nowadays). She wrote the lyrics as well, and we recorded vocals at my home studio. It's got more of a hip hop vibe, and I got the sample off some random vinyl record that I had. It might have been a Cleopatra soundtrack record that I have. As with all my samples, I change them so much you can't even tell what I started with. I'm so good at this I can't even tell!! I had a lot of fun on the extra percussion sounds you hear, and included a fat bassline that matches the sample perfectly.

Track 10- Cybershamans (feat. D Stylz & Elimence)

Boy oh boy! It's not every day you get two of the hottest emcees in your town, and have them go in on a track together! One of the features on this is also on Steemit, and you should check @elimence out too! These guys are seriously lyrical, and complement each other perfect. D Stylz has a deeper, raspier voice, and @elimence has a slightly higher register. You're going to have to listen to this a few times to pick up everything they are saying! The beat also drastically changes when Elimence comes in, so it's like they rapped on completely different beats!

Track 11- A Story of the Leavers

This one is dark sounding! I sampled some percussion and the chants from this Brazilian record that I have, and it definitely makes this song sound not very Westernized. I love music from different countries outside of the US, and got inspiration to make something really different for me on this one. I also recorded myself reading some lines from the Daniel Quinn book, "The Story of B." That's also where I drew inspiration for the title of this song. That book is extremely interesting! Highly recommend you read it if you haven't, and if you have, let me know what you think about it!

Anyways, I hope you guys have enjoyed this installment of my commentary series! I have about two more volumes I will do for this, and then I will start dishing out exclusive previews of my upcoming EP TRVLS! I have a couple up already, but will release them one by one here!!! Stay tuned!

Whoa! John Cena commented. Lol Hey, this was a great read. I'm happy I was able to contribute to this body of work. Just for insight, @falseyedols had an open space on that track and it definitely was a challenge for two reasons. 1. Emcees are very competitive and Dstylz is an exceptional lyricist and his flow is always on point, I had big shoes to fill, so my lyrics and flow needed to be top notch. 2. Falseyedols likes to make rappers run on his tracks. There are unexpected change ups and if you notice on the latter part of my verse I started to speed up my flow because he made a transition in the track. I'm happy with my placement on the song and in the album. Peace and cheers mate!

Love the track, man! You guys are putting out some excellent music. Loved playing your tracks on the show again this past Friday! You're getting some love from us!

Im liking what i hear. Super long for a hiphop track though. I know, I know there are no rules;)

Thanks for checking it out! That is actually three tracks combined into one, played back to back. So it's not as long as you might think ;)

Yeah i realised that after the first track finished.

Wow awesome post. I really like your content. Thanks

Thanks John Cena. You're the best
