Adrian Rowe - Kerak [TECHNO - Orignal Song]

in #dsound7 years ago (edited)

I'll be blunt, I've been in a serious writers block as of late and it's been getting to me. I know these things are normal and I'll work through it at some point, but right now it is incredibly frustrating for me. I've always been one of those people who historically has to experiment for hours until a happy accident arises and it gives me the basis to finish a track, but it hasn't been happening lately.

I know it's not the most inspiring way to start a post, but I just wanted to get that out. If you are out there and struggling to figure out your sound and how to execute the things that are in your head musically, just know that you aren't alone. Persevere. Good things take time.

Because of this, I'm once again going through some of my older work to figure out what makes me tick and see if I can get some of that magic back and figure out what inspires me again. So today I'll be sharing a track I finished about 4 months ago that continues to grow on me.

Kerak as a whole is another exercise in minimalism for me. The primary sounds from it are built using two different Reaktor Blocks builds. One of them creates the very modular sounds that populate this song, while the other creates that percolating percussion that give this song most of it's energy. The orbiting pads that emerges halfway through was made using Madrona Lab's Aalto which appears on nearly every song I've made since it's release. The drums are from Elektron's Machinedrum and it was the first song that I made using it after purchasing it over the summer. Structurally, I really wanted to create something with an anit-breakdown of sorts, as I really love the feeling in records where songs divert from expectations in buildups. Every time I hear it I love how the kick reemerges with little fanfare. It's a weird thing to love, but it's just the vibe I'm looking for right now.

Well, I hope you enjoy it. Feel free to leave some advice on how to break out of this rut that I'm in production wise. I could use it.

You got some good results. Smile and good mood is a recipe to a good production :)

I think sometime during our chat on Discord I managed to break free from this rut to some extent. Maybe just talking about it is what I needed.

This track has a really nice vibe!

Thanks you for listening!
