Most environmental song on dSound? - Burning The Candle - Nathan Kaye

in #dsound7 years ago (edited)

Thundering Earth Roots-Rock, Sunbaked Slide Blues, Didgeridoo beatbox & mind-altering lyrics.

This is what you put on booming from your car whilst sitting next to the campfire or driving to your next surf trip... Pure sub-tropical beach vibes...

This is blistering Lapsteel Slide Guitar Rock with Kaye's trademark beatboxing & Didgeridoo...

It was the single for an EP I released back in 2006 that got a bit of national airplay on a big popular radio syndicate here (Triple J) in Australia.

Philosophy Behind the Song

It's lyrical focus is metaphorically how we are Burning the candle at both ends micro-cosmically in our personal lives destroying our emotional and physical health, as well as macro-cosmically in our society destroying our planet's environmental health.

Featuring Pauly B (Paul Bromley) from the ARIA chart-topping bands 'The Beautiful Girls' & 'George' on Bass.
Plus Special guest vocals from Lisa Hunt from New York...

Have you ever felt frustrated by how the system we live in seems to put our planet, our environment last on the priority list? It's as if the people who run transnational corporations and politicians who permit these plutocrats to continue practices of ecocide, don't care.
But what they don't realise is that we, the people who are awake, have the true power. We are the ones who allow this to continue by being complacent and by not making personal changes within our own lives. we support them with every purchase we make & with every vote we partake in.
Yet, each one of us can make changes.
We can do this step by step, everyday.
These incremental changes make a massive difference, but only when we continue to make these changes and stick with the changes we make.

I feel frustrated with it all the time. I just found a post that shared information about robot bees! I resteemed it for more people to see. How does that fix the problem? It fixes it in all the wrong ways :(
One way I think will help is to write about the ways to make the changes in many different areas. We can talk about how to start growing food. Start from small and learn about the plants to be able to grow more and compare it to the foods we buy at the stores with facts in proving how wrong it is.
We can talk about the bess and how to grow the flowers and everything they need. Not cut down their very first food source at first sight of seeing these so called weeds.
Not everyone is in a position to grow food so what else is there to do to stop encouraging the system in doing all the wrong things?
I don't know it all and wish I knew more. I find the information can be hard to find and once you find it there is still so much more to see.
I wrote a post about compostable coffee pods. I thought it was an awesome buy but when I opened the box... It was far from the truth.
Helping more people wake up from this zombie state of the world and giving them the tools to work with it rightfully is, in my opinion, what is needed to move forward.
Wow I seemed to have more to say on this than I thought... sorry about that.
This is a strong song and definitely meant to be spread worldwide.
I feel like I need to stop this comment here, I am taking a lot of space lol.

This is such a great comment! This is exactly the kind of discussion I want this song to inspire!
There's so much we can do on a daily basis.
Yes, we must have these conversations and talk about it more, but we really need to take just one step forward each day with changing our own daily habits. We need to keep reconditioning ourselves by installing new habits to replace the old ones...

Re: growing food - almost everyone is in a position to grow food, wherever you live, even in apartments, because most places/cities now have garden co-ops or community gardens where you can help grow food, but not only that, even to grow a few herbs on your windowsill, helps keep you connected to the cycles of nature (and cycles of consumption) to some degree. If your particular city doesn't yet have a community garden, then that would be an important initiative to begin.

But as I said before, step by step. A new habit, even a small habit, at least each week will build into a lot of great habits.
We make a difference!

Anyway, thanks for such a great comment!
:)

I don't live in a very populated area, which keeps me a bit more disconnected with the outside world. I am always the last person to find out lol. So with the community gardens, I don't see much. In my town, we few have tried to push the Reeve and the fellow township people to have one installed but to no avail. For some reason our town is being runned by people that are not interested in doing anything for the community and the people vote for them too (???) It raises a lot of questions.
So this summer, I plan to work with a couple others to have people come together in creating a system where we can all grow food and trade with each other, and those that do not can still come and trade for something, whether it be a crocheted hat, scarf or mitts, or a piece of art, anything. Have a town where we support each other more.
We have to travel 53 kms everytime we need groceries, health services, clothing etc. This would help for food, less costs on gas and being better for the environment. It would help to get better and healthier foods into people, would do so much good in many ways.
How to encourage the people to do it? I am not there yet. I have to plant seeds in the minds of people as a lot are crossed on doing anything...
Do not ask me why I was not able to put this in a nutshell lol. A lot is going through my mind XD

Yes, this is such great initiative! I encourage you to begin this as soon as you can.
You will benefit and everyone in your community will benefit in so many more ways than you can imagine!
Blessings
