"Miner49er" By Trash Juice

in #dsound6 years ago (edited)

Trash Juice recorded this 32 bar ABAB form Funk Rock Electronica tune on February 25, 2018. This instrumental tune features a 'power trio' arrangement of round wound string bass, drums, and distorted/wah/flange guitar patches along with percussive and sweeping digital and analog synthesizer floating mostly low in the mix.

In a 32 bar ABAB song form, here the composer exercises some constraint from his usual 'fat mix', minimizing to a total of five albeit rather full-spectrum tracks themselves. Foremost, the composer gave considerable care to fairly accurately represent a thumb-popping round wound string bass funky style. The listener will likely recognize a few Jimi Hendrix-styled 'dive bomb' here and there during the distorted/wah/flange guitar patch solo section.

The composer laid the final two tracks with the intention of bringing the tune into the 21st Century which brought a strong preference for electronica into popularity, by including percussive and sweeping digital and analog synthesizer floating, dynamically panning, while mostly low in the mix. The digital percussive loop 'clack and ring' is made with a Commodore 64, 6581 Sound Interface Device-based synthesizer, the 'SIDnth' and the sweeping analog is performed on the probed-ribbon strip of the PAiA Gnome synthesizer.

like this, quite trippy stuff, wasn't miner49er one of the old classic scooby doo spooks ? :)

Thanks! Of course, the indirect reference should imply crypto mining, particularly ASIC mining, as the cover photo is a silicon wafer processed with ASIC's 'etched', and a Gold miner wiki photo over layed ... but I'll take a spot on the Scooby Doo soundtrack if offered! ... :-D

ha ha yeah that would be great hey :)

I don't know if you were around in that era, but maybe a little before that, The Monkees was a show about a rock band, whose actors actually went on tour, lip-syncing to pre-recorded tunes... Jimi Hendrix opened for them on one of those tours, a complete disaster for him, quit after the third or fourth show of the tour, but fortunately for posterity, his career survived that. "Careful what we wish for..." may be the operative lesson here. ;-)

ha ha , very good point mate , i remember reruns of the monkees in the late 70's early 80's , but i was very young then so not vividly :)

Good content sir.. Thank you

Thank you, my friend!

Reminds me of the movie Mulholland Drive :)

;-) thanks! I never saw that one, but the poster reminded me of a soundtrack that would be more dark ambient than Funktronica ... hmm(?)
