Haha. It's always been towards the top of my list of countries to visit because of the culture and the language, and just sheer curiosity. I want to learn Mandarin/Cantonese to at least an intermediate level.
Also, I want to give TEFL teaching a try (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) and there is a huge demand for native english speakers because their population is so large and the Chinese government funds programs to help pay for living quarters for them.
The salary you can make teaching English in China is also much higher than in most foreign countries because the yuan is a strong global currency. So is the yen (Japan would really be my first pick because I've actually studied the language for a while) but getting paid positions in Japan is quite a bit harder because everyone wants to go there. Sorry for the mini-essay :-P
not at all, TESL, or any language, is something that should be promoted. great way to immerse in another culture. @yusaymon, wonder if teaching spanish somewhere is an option for you?
Yeah, I agree :-) I think back to my time in India and remember how much it opened my eyes about the world outside America. I'm sure @yusaymon would be great at it if the idea appealed to him and he was willing to make the commitments/sacrifices that come with traveling to a foreign country. It helps that he speaks English well, too.
eh everyone always blames the system and not the leader who messes it up. any system can work if it works for all and is fair. whatever system you have there is not working. won't blame you for leaving. find what is best for YU!!!
It is very big and I decided to get rid of it for when I travel.
