I don't think time has anything to do with it per say. If I get a notification my fave Youtuber dropped a new video, I sure as hell make sure I watch it before the day ends. You know, "the Subs Gang"... Also people binge watch YouTube cause it's just an option or some of their fave things to do. I feel we still have a missing link on getting ppl hooked to blockchain platforms.
Basically, there are a lot of things fighting for our time. For me and I think the time is not a major factor. Most of the internet users are below the age 18 and time is not usually an issue for such persons. For me, I think its more about content. To be frank we cannot compete with platforms like youtube. I literally can spend 3-4hours on youtube but dtube... I would be begging for content to watch. The quality is not there yet. Even I consider my videos to be relatively shitty. Maybe with time things will change. Another fact for me would be data. Since data is expensive here, I really am picky. The only time I can try to explore is around midnight where I get 500mb for like 30cents. Asides that, I can't be watching videos randomly.
I get your position. You're talking from the angle of someone who is employed but most of us aren't and so time might not just be the factor.
Ah, you make a great point about the unemployed and non-employed and young demographic. They've got nothing but time, but just no money. By the time they get money, they'd have no time.
I believe publicity and popularity of dtube platform is one of the major reasons why most video don't receive views and attention. And also blockchain technology is still new to the world and most people don't know more about decentralize platform
Maybe, but do you think consumers watching a video really care much about the platform it's on? Most people don't really care about that stuff. Not like we do.
I even want to believe you left some other personal activities that people attend to within that same 4hrs left. It is a ritual here in Ghana for some of us to visit families and the Christians will be seen attending to daily church activities. So that still wont be enough.. That's just right and a real reason sir. We must look into this in a special way. Only few of us still make time to watch the videos out of our busy schedules. But thanks so much @adetorrent.
And some office workers are just afraid of being detected by their boss - imagine: they appear to be focusing on working with their laptop, but actually staring at a suspicious guy with a blue hoody and an orange mug talking about some decentralised platform the boss might never heard of... but going through a post of texts and pictures looks more like doing research for the job, lol.
Well I tried 3 times today at different hours and the video doesn't load. At the beginning I blamed the connection is my flat that is sometimes hectic but at work didn't work either. This evening I did tried another time with no luck :)
I think you are absolutely right although I have found myself try to combine the two. I often watch videos while commuting or while on the treadmill (like right now actually). This makes 5-10 minute video ms the sweetspot although I have been watching some longer ones at 1.5x speed!
And that is the reason I am no longer being as active on Steemit. But I do have extra time on weekends. That is when I usually create and post. 😁

Yea ppl don’t have time. That’s why in countries where people work overtime a lot, short videos are more popular.
