Oh my god so many memories :) I played it recently after several years and started to use a very strange tactics. Before the final rush to the enemy, I didn't kill my villagers to make more space for the army, but instead pushed them to the battle and started to build TownCenters on a massive scale. 3 Town-Centers filled with angry villagers = impenetrable wall of fire. Even 7 vs 1 scenario (starting with full resources) against 7 angry Goths, I simply put TCs with 200 villagers all around my Wonder, few Castles and watched the catastrophe, just a few casultis.
