Don’t Be Too Hard On Yourself

in #dtube6 years ago

Often, we can be our own worst critics when it comes to judging ourselves and the things we do. When I draw, I’m constantly critiquing myself. There are times when I’m telling myself that something looks like crap, when that may not actually be the case. Maybe I messed up on how thick I wanted a line to be, and that’s why I think it’s crap. Maybe I didn’t draw it at the right angle. Whatever it is, it can lead to me being too hard on myself. That’ll then stress me out and make completing my work much harder than it otherwise would be.

Be careful not to be so hard on yourself that it makes thing more difficult than they need to be. You’re just inviting in unnecessary stress at this point. I know it’s easy for me to say but very hard to not do. The aim here is to do it less often. I don’t know if you’ll ever be able to never do it again, but you can certainly decrease how often you do it.

It’s ok to show yourself tough love as well. It’s also important to remember that there’s a line that can be crossed. That point at which you’re being tough enough, to where you’re being to tough. I’ve simply been working on getting better at reducing the number of times I cross that point. Believe in yourself as well and remember that you’re capable of doing this.👍😁

Thank you for coming by and checking out my video. I hope you have a wonderful day. Take care!👋
