It was one of the snowiest winters here in the Ottawa area in a very long time. Record snowfalls and cold. We also saw records for the latest dates where snow was still seen on the ground. As much as this makes for a long hard winter, the biggest impact is is being felt right now!! In the spring.
All of the extra snow this season means that there is more water coming into the water table during the spring melt. This has brought on some of the highest flood levels ever here. There are thousands of people who are being displaced and reeling from the damage to homes and property. With he rainfall this weekend it is only getting worse.

Wow. That's some serious water. I hope that dam comes out of that OK, running over the top like that can sometimes be problematic.
Damage from high water is just tragic no matter the building. I hope the damage is as minimized as can be.
Even the fishies in the lake can't be happy with this....
It's a pretty small dam, really designed to just slow the flow. Not a full stop dam. Not happening these days. The fast water is pushing a lot of fish down to a great fishing hole that has been blocked off this year due to construction in the area. :(
