I recently attempted to fix a leak in the Yurt's roof where a nylon strap extends from the outside to the inside transferring the water like a wick. My first attempt was with melted tree sap collected from the Permaculture farm I live on, but that was too brittle once it cooled, so I switched to a beeswax and turpentine mixture which sealed the deal (despite making a bit of a mess!).
Thanks for stopping by!

You can also mix pitch with wax and get whatever consistency you want from brittle to soupy. Search out birch bark canoe builder's formulae. I ran across an article a few years ago that went into great detail. The pitch the Indians used on their canoes was both water tight and flexible.
Thanks for this tip, @citizenzero! I look forward to trying it since I already have both ingrediants handy.
Oh, good tip! I wonder if I can apply this mix to the rubber roof on my grandfather's midcentury house.
It's a shame I can't get the d-tube videos to play. Thanks for sharing in multiple formats.
What browser do you use @winstonalden?
Chrome. It just shows the loading screen but never loads.
Strange, I use Chrome as well. Is the loading screen for videos themselves or the entire DTube webpage?
It gets this far but the video never starts playing.
Are you running an outdated version Chrome perhaps?
