RE: How to threaten a cop with citizen's arrest

in #dtube7 years ago

If this were a black or brown kid doing the same thing, you can bet the outcome would certainly have been different. These kinds of things tend to unfold very differently depending on skin color. Unfortunately it's not a hard claim to to confirm - there are probably a thousand You Tube vids proving my point. Sad but true... Not to mention - be that aggressive towards the police where I live, regardless of your skin color, its probably not going to end up like this.

you got a point there drdave...folk need to take a couple of factors into consideration before attempting moves like the one suggested above. There is much more than what meets the eye. As this is an international site not everyone here has cops like in the US.

How right you are... Law enforcement tend to be much more restrained in other parts of the world than here in the US.

This video does a disservice as far as the above comment goes. Because of this comment, people of color will think this is how dealing with the police works for white people. I assure you, this is equivalent to those college kids who hits a basketball shot from the top of a football stadium.

already know better than to do the things shown in this video, and most are acutely aware that the outcome will be dramatically different for them versus a "white" person doing the exact same thing. However unfortunate, that is the reality for many living in America today - myself included... Things like this video here, give me faith that it wont always be this way...
@americangunchic Im not altogether sure what you mean by saying "Because of this comment, people of color..." Trust me when I say - people of color https://steemit.com/funny/@drdave/wtf-they-mean-make-america-white-again-a-drunken-rant-that-makes-sense

Exactly. Plus you never know how how many times this was tried when it didn't work out for the white guy with the basketball (or video camera in this instance). Cherry picking can make anyone look like a basketball ace or someone who can put all cops in their place with simple words. It's a wonder he didn't try "these are not the droids you are looking for" 😀

"I'm a Toydarian, mind tricks don't work on me... ONLY MONEY !!!"

I agree with you, I think because of the racial disparity and racial profiling by law enforcement there's a major difference in how individuals should address situations he or she may find themselves in. It's promising to see more people speaking out and raising awareness, but I'd like to point out that there are some people who seem to have LE in their back pockets, like lobbyists and local politicians, maybe?
