Seriously?
So today I went truck shopping. Pops rode with and we had to stop at the U-Haul place to re-up a storage unit. The entire block was surrounded by Christians bearing signs like 'Homo sex is a sin'. Within the block were LGBT peeps. A few months ago, the awareness of the not-so-straight community came to light to the Christian populace as they volunteered to read stories for children at the public library. Now, I could care less what a human's sexual orientation is. I am comfortable with boobs and if you like scissors, good on ya. But here in Tennessee, some people aren't as apt to 'turn the other cheek' or see the planks in their own eyes. You'll see what I mean in the video.

oh boy. where do i start.
i was baptized a few years ago. and have spent the better part of 2016-to present reading the bible and becoming as close to God as i know how.
the one thing i have learned is that when we start pointing fingers there are a few pointed right back at us.
what a mess. here’s scripture that make it pretty clear to me.
1 John 4:7-8
God is love.
i’m most definitely not the be all and end all of this faith lol i’m learning. but nowhere does it say to hate your fellow man. ever.
at least that’s the bible ive read lol
crazy times we live in

God is love. The three most important words in that entire collection of books. Too often forgotten and misinterpreted.

Witty, i choose to ignore such fucking bollocks. My 22 year old son has gay mates and most kids I work with do and find it odd people would see anyone other than just who they are. These guys are a laughable dying breed ... doesnt mean you shouldn't front up... but dont despair THEY ARE DONE.
Posted using Partiko Android
Laughable dying breed indeed. No room for such ignorance anymore.

When I see two guys going at it with tongue and all it still makes me squirm a little. But what gives me the right to judge that. Heck, before I was married I slept with numerous women ...too many to remember. According to the Bible that is no better.
And what about these far Right people who are divorced and remarried ?? That is no better than Gay people according to the Bible.
So just live and let live I say. It's between God and that person. Please ,no loud lecturing
Lmao🤣not my preferred method of arousal either, but ya, to each their own. We're never gonna traverse the stars until racism, homophobia and segregated religions cease to exist. 😐

That is scary in so many ways. Sad in even more ways. Let people just be people. and those people need way more to do on a Saturday like take care of their own families
They probably don't have cute puppies or kittens to pet so they're all angry and had to take it out on someone.

Jeezuz! (No pun intended)....
What’s with the heavies?!?
Posted using Partiko iOS
Lol idk, fear factors ran rampant around that block.

Imagine, the sin of reading to children?
Ya, that was sad man. Lunatics on the loose.

Howdy sir enginewitty! these people give Christians a bad name. You aren't going to influence anyone to even look at your position by being so obnoxious. They're driving people away.
They are too. I mean, if you're trying to attract attention, I suppose any press is good press, but this is just sad.

totally agree sir enginewitty!
Thank you for your continued support of SteemSilverGold
It makes me so sick that we still have that kind of bigotry going on...
And who were those dudes in black? They sure were moving in on you...
Security detail, which I posed no threat, they just being assholes. Part of the problem.

Aaaand that’s why I’m not involved with the church anymore. Hypocrisy, intolerance, judgmentalism, and narrow-mindedness are divicive, and accomplish nothing. This makes me sad.
Narrow-minded for sure hun. If churches can't accept others, how are the masses expected to conquer racism?

Love is love; better love than hate! We cannot help who we fall in love with 🌷
No they can't hun. People are people and should be respected as such. Classification just breeds separation and stagnates what humanity is.

OMG... Seriously!!!
That is sad to se people like that who still lives in the Past and can't expect people for who they are. And apparently don't have any better things to do like look into the mirror and say HONESTLY am I without sin? 😜
I grew up in a Christian home and my parents still is involved in the church. But growing up we were thought to love people.. ALL people no matter who they are.
And also never to point fingers at others without looking at ourselves... Do I really have the right to judge others? NOPE!
I loved the end when you turned the camera on yourself and just smiled.. OMG!! 😁
My reaction was the same!
Again much Love to you Witty ❤️

I lived with a gay couple a few years back, we were walking down the street in the city and some christian's were handing out leaflets and wanting to talk to people about church/god. One lady approached us and gave us some handouts, one of the men said 'I wouldn't be welcome at your church lovely' she said 'sweeite everyone is welcome in god's church', to which he replied 'oh your church actually welcomes gays?'. She snatched the handout from his hand, turned on her heel huffing and puffing and stormed off. I remember thinking to my self lady, you are so disconnected from god and you have absolutely no idea of it.
But it is fair to say not all christians are like this, i also know one or two devout christians who are more modern in their thinking and have no issues with it at all.
No, they're not. This was just a particularly rude sect in my city. Definitely not a church I'll be attending.

I completely relate on all counts.
My mom's first husband, and the father of my two older sisters, was not only gay but helped found the Gay Liberation Front on both coasts. He spent most of his adult life working to improve the lot of those most at risk, including the LGBT community, migrant workers and the homeless, to name but a few.
Growing up in L.A., I had a number of gay friends and colleagues over the years, and ditto in Florida, some of whom remain among my favorite people of all time.
Interestingly, a Christian pastoral counselor (who was also the mom of a close friend) made one of the most insightful comments regarding homosexuality that I've ever heard. We were discussing God's purpose for LGBT people, and she said she believed that God put them here among us to teach the rest of us tolerance and love toward others despite our differences. Amen.
In closing, I'd like to share a relevant poem by one of my favorite poets, Taylor Mali, performing the poem that put him on my radar, "Like Lily, Like Wilson," and helped to set the bar for performance poetry for me.
I've got friends of all orientations so, it just makes no sense to me. Nobody shows discrimination against dogs when they hump each other or frogs when they have orgies. Lmao but really, people just need a reason to hate and they're all over it. Human nature to feed a fire like that. Sick.

I so agree.
The irony is that homosexual behavior exists in a lot of species, not just humans, and was fairly prevalent in Yeshua's time . . . and yet he never even broached the subject (or, if he did, it didn't make the cut while the early Roman church was busily banning books they didn't like).
And the one Old Testament book that decries it is Leviticus, that sage old soul who also told us that if our kids defied their parents, the proper punishment was to kill them. Seriously.
I don't know about you, but if we'd been held to that standard, damned few of my friends or family members would have made it to adulthood, including me.
The bottom line is that most of the so-called Christian churches are teaching pretty much the polar opposite of what Yeshua himself taught. He was all about love and forgiveness. His churches, with few exceptions, are more about judging and oppressing those with whom they disagree. Thanks, but no thanks.
Lmao ya I'd of long since been forgotten 🤣

That's gross, why can't they just accept people the way they are. Sin and no sin are all classified by our respected self proclaimed leaders who think they are all messengers of god but in reality are the biggest culprits in contaminating the society.
Great way to put it hun. Gross contamination!

Sometimes human stupidity seems as indefinite as the Universe. The sad part is that there will always be people who hate but the good part is that the world is changing so those who love are becoming stronger in numbers. On that note, much love honey! 💚
Much love right back at ya sweetness. As indefinite as the universe? Lol, love that🤣🤗

Aren't there homeless and hungry people that they could be helping instead of ranting and raving?
My first thought was a disgusted, "What makes them think that they have any right to judge?" Immediately followed by the thought that here I am, judging their actions. 😢 Maybe these (in my mind the kindest word I have is 'misguided') people truly believe that they're going to 'save' someone's soul but I don't agree with what they're doing. Me being all judgy again: Just because they believe it, doesn't make it right.
I feel so blessed to have been raised in a time and place where I find messages of ignorance and anger like this sad. I could give less than a rat's ass who someone loves so long as they love them.
Also, has doing this EVER worked? Has anyone ever been walking by and been like, "Holy Shit! Are you serious, I had NO idea!?" I think at most, all they'll do is hurt people and shame them into a way of life that makes them unhappy, into a lie. I can't imagine that God would want that.
Side question, were you able to find a truck you liked?
