Usually the selfie camera on smartphones isn't that great: bad image quality and too zoomed in. Here's how to work around that on the Galaxy S8
Once again we're using this wide-angle adapter, but this time we're using it on the front-facing camera of the Galaxy S8. The selfie cam on the S8 is special--it's one of the very few cameras that has a focusing mechanism. What that means is that, unlike most other cameras that are focused to infinity, when you vlog with it the background is actually pretty out of focus, giving you a nice look.
The other nice thing about vlogging with the Galaxy S8 is that you can use Filmic to record in 3K, giving you far more detail than the normal 1080p or QHD of the stock app. This doesn't have any stabilization, so it's only useful for stationary shots, but that's still a lot of detail.
One more nice thing about the international version of the Galaxy S8 is that you can easily root it and use this app to mod the camera app itself. This will get you h265 video, which uses about 50% of the space, and you can actually control the bitrate and give yourself *more *quality at the expense of space.
All these things combined--a real focus mechanism, 3K option for stationary shots, and a moddable camera app--make the Galaxy S8 one of the best and most versatile selfie cameras out there.
