Welcome to my Hebrew reading & language series.
Genesis 9:24-29
That does it for chapter nine! We have completed another chapter.
Last week I joked that everybody knows that Canaanites are bad, but Noah did curse Canaan when he woke up naked after a late night bender.
I am not going to get into why he cursed his grandson or what had been done to him. Noah noticed something about his waking state that really set him off though, and he cursed Canaan. I have noticed throughout the Tanakh that what a father says about his sons, especially related to blessings, is of high regard and almost prophetic. There was the story of Jacob and Esau who argued about the blessing from Isaac.
Esau had sold his birthright to Jacob for a pot of stew. But Jacob still felt it necessary to fool his father into thinking he was Esau in order to get the blessing. Isaac was very upset when he found out he had blessed the wrong son. He did not undo the blessing or even try to. It was as if once it is given, it cannot be removed. I believe that to be the case.
If a blessing is like a tattoo, then a curse would be the same. Later in our readings we will see the land of Canaan and that Joshua's men will have to completely decimate it by killing all men women and children. They were not allowed to keep any gold or pottery, no spoils at all.
Today we see the complete vowels of God's name.
This happens once every hundred or so occurrences of the name YHVH. Just because I am reading from a PDF file does not mean that those who created it felt at liberty to add or remove a vowel or marking. The Holem (dot over the vav) was likely present in the script they used to create the PDF, and so it was included.
Please have a look and repeat the words after I point and read. See you in the comments section.

Info on each letter starting at the beginning
If you are just starting, my lessons are all here starting at Alef, adding vowels (the dots and lines) as we go. I explain the meaning of each letter and its numerical value. Just go to my blog and scroll to the bottom or click here

Note: I record these in one go because I am not that technical and have no idea how to edit video.
- What looked good on my phone screen at first playback is different from what I see when it is time to upload.
- It has been doing this for several weeks (since getting a new phone).
- I will attempt to resolve this somehow.
Thanks for watching. Comments or questions welcomed.

Yes I definitely think a blessing to someone cannot be undone and I think it's also the same for a curse and a look at the old testament shows definitely that this is true. I'm glad you continue from Genesis 9 and showing us the complete vowel of God's lesson. An amazing lesson again @hebrew
A wonderful lesson @hebrew and your next interpretation of the Book of Genesis in Hebrew shows me the wisdom of your ancient language!
Noah cursed Canasn because the Canaan did not want to worship God and did not want to get into his father's boat when a big flood occurred.
Today I looked some extra ordinary things from your lesson.
Well explained about Genesis 9:24-29.
Shabbat Shalom
Thanx to you that today I got to know there is a language called Hebrew. Great post with a beautiful lesson hidden.
Noah is indeed a human being full of affection, while being a dissident
that is the determination of a nuh, a man who is greatly glorified by God
@hebrew
Hebrew is great language!!!Thanks for sharing.

Great lesson of Hebrew language.thanks for sharing. very useful information.
