Welcome to my Hebrew reading & language series.
Continuing with Genesis 5:26-30
This Shabbat breaks the routine of who fathered who. We see that Noah was born to a young man named Lamech, only 182 years old when he became a new father.
I wonder what kind of toys they gave the man who would live through the flood.
Another interesting thing is that Noah's father lived to be 777 years old which is a number that jumps out at anyone who has studied the Tanakh.
Here is the English for what I am talking about.
What we have read so far seems to include very few extra details about the people who lived from Adam to Noah, but does give us a timeline that cannot be reconciled with what is being taught in schools. The chart from earlier lessons comes out of the last several readings.
Next week we will hear of a man and his three sons. Noah and his story are coming up as we head into chapter six.
