I do no want to belittle tanbay but all of these (except number 2) are pointless and almost as trivial as holding you pee longer to save 1 extra flush a day. What you have to do is stop being a wasteful consumer.
- Replace things only if necessary, not from a whim
- Buy local food and locally manufactured goods whenever it is possible
- Do not buy excessive amounts of food or anything only to throw half of it away
Things manufactured on the other half of the globe often in China with 0 care about environment, shipped on gigantic ships burning tons of HFO or diesel and later trucked over vast distances to your local store have far larger impact than you driving 10 minutes alone while being warm.
Well I guess this consumerism behaviour will somehow change soon with 3d printers getting better and better by the day, soon there should be far less (if any) of those gigantic ships on the oceans. Of course people still have to make much better choices when it comes to consumption in general, that's certainly true
