I'm new to steemit, I get the stay away from drama and don't be a bully as that morally and financially makes sense; but as I was reading through the comments, I noticed your responses "it's rude to upvote yourself", why is that? And why are users even allowed to upvote themselves?

Some people think that it is rude because it is selfish and because it puts usually very low quality comments higher on the comment list.

That's my opinion too. I don't have problems with people upvoting their posts, its their hard woork and its ok for me if they do so. But upvoting a sentence in the comment section themselfes is annoying as hell in my opinion and I like to flag people who do that from time to time if I have enough votepower
