RE: PROMOTING DTUBE, PALNET AND STEEMIT TO MY 67K YOUTUBE SUBS!

in #dtube6 years ago

In all this time (on steemit) since dtube first came out, I have NEVER been able to
get connected there. Something about delegating "ftps" which I don't understand,
But when I tried following step by step, it just didn't work. THIS pc is an older one
Not a lot of RAM left that isn't being used. (Does that have anything to do with it?
There are SO MANY instances where I have a video of something short, funny, odd
Etc, where I just don't want to upload to YT, but would much rather go straight
Here to the blockchain.
When I CREATE a video, it is usually one of my live music performances (I play
Old music for Old people in Retirement and assisted living facilities) I use software
I've bought that allows me to format (.MOV, .MP3 .GIF and more) add titles and
on-screen subtitles etc... that's a lot of work (for me) to create something meant
FOR THE BLOCKCHAIN audience, but I must go to YT first.
I can't tell you how many emails I've gotten from Google "It appears that the song
In blah blah blah is owned by blah blah blah" I DON'T Care, I make it plain that
I don't own the rights to that F Sinatra song, and I've never made a ¢ from any of
My videos. It is just crazy.
But when they want to put ads on my video so THEY can make $ when I am
NOT making $, just doesn't seem fair to me.
There, I've vented. I was puzzled and confused by your initial video @tanbay,
But I'm glad I caught it. Maybe I'll see ya round.

Sort:

Not only is it totally unfair that they make money from it, Google/YouTube also make a TON of money from your data that they are selling to advertisers! DTube is surely not perfect but things are improving and soon uploading should get way easier. There is also a new video platform called 3speak which will be open to everyone soon and it should be no problem to upload content on there (:

Perhaps you can help me understand something about dtube. If I delegate
Whatever that is, it is a partition on my harddrive, right? Whether that
Is true or not, some part of my pc is actively connected to the platform
Doing something I can't see. So if I post/upload a video to Dtube
Were I to figure out this delegation thing, when I turn OFF my
PC as I do when I'm not using it, do my videos disappear
Until I turn my PC back on? I actually have 3, 2 desktops and
A laptop. I still shut them down (or hibernate in the case
of my laptop) when they are not in use. I suspect my
AV would not be happy with me delegating space
On my computer to some outside entity.
Can you help me understand this please?
Thanks in advance @tanbay

Dtube is quite simple, read this post and you will understand how it works: https://steemit.com/utopian-io/@akhileshwari/understanding-dtube-easily

I'll look at it, but as I said, I've read posts, I've watched YT videos that are "supposed" to be step by step, and I quit messing with it when over and
Over I kept reaching the point where the last step/instruction said I
Should be seeing ### blah blah blah, yet I saw nothing that looked
Anything like XXX blah blah blah. Thanks @tanbay

Okay, things must have changed because I didn't see anything about
Delegating FTPS . I'm pretty sure I created an account. Let me see
If I can find it.
Thanks again

The trouble with most of these 'step by step' tutorials is that they are out of date and things do indeed change all the time on DTube and most other apps on the steem blockchain, so yes, try again and see if it is working now

I tagged you in this , thanks
