Chasing Wonders: The Gentle Giants of the Philippines

The Philippines is a country blessed with so much natural wonders. You go farthest north in the province of Batanes and you will see amazing landscapes and seascapes. In the southern part; Mindanao, it has everything that you could ask for from Mother Nature. From astonishing waterfalls like the Tinago Falls of Iligan City, to world-class surfing spots of Siargao and untouched Pink Beach of Zamboanga.

The Philippines is so gorgeous that foreign travelers can not help but fall in love with its beauty.

In the central part of the country, specifically in the Island Province of Cebu, not only human travelers fell in love and decided to stay, but also the gentle giants of the marine world. The Whale Sharks or locally known as Butanding, can be seen swimming and interacting with the human beings all throughout the year. They can be found in the town of Oslob, an approximately 3 hours drive down south of Cebu City. These used-to-be-wild creatures are being fed by locals and are tamed for eco-tourism purposes. Swimming with these giants is a must-do adventure when in the Philippines. It is a highlight than can make up a good story for your family and friends back home.

The guy in the video is my good friend Alvin from Singapore. Like me, he also is a wandering soul who seek for adventure. It was his first time to travel in the Philippines when we did this activity. And since then, he always comes back for more Sun, Sand and Smile. The last time he was here was when he took his Advanced Scuba Diving Course in Malapascua Island. And yes, he already met Malapascua’s Thresher Sharks. Another world famous shark, popular for its beauty.

If you haven’t been to Cebu, book your flight now. ITS DEFINITELY MORE FUN IN THE PHILIPPINES.

Thank you Jesper. Yes, these whalesharks are really majestic. Up until now I am still not comfortable swimming with them. The idea of them swallowing me whole bugs me. Haha

Gonna tell you da story....of a reggae shark :D

Tell your friend not to touch it next time 😂

I told him already. His defense was that, it was the sharks who touched him. Haha
