Power vs. Force, Exploring the Work of Tony Robbins, Kinesiology, and Spiritual Parables

in #dtube6 years ago (edited)

For most of this year, I've been in a pretty exclusively content-creating mode, meaning that I'd listened to podcasts here and there while working, but I was mostly caught up in finishing my booklets for Anarchapulco, preparing talks & workshops, putting out my content on STEEM, building the programming and marketing for Be Empowered, and most recently building the website for @Philosofusion. Over the last couple of weeks however, especially since my time with azurescens, I've felt the urge to read again.

First, I dove into the book Micro, the only Michael Crichton novel I hadn't read, then I moved on to The Journeys of Socrates, the prequel to Way of the Peaceful Warrior by Dan Millman, and most recently I've begun Power vs. Force by David Hawkins.

This book has been astounding so far (only about 50 pages in), which is no surprise considering how many people have recommended it to me, including my friend @sashadaygame. What did surprise me was the focus (at least so far) being heavily on the science of kinesiology, also known as muscle testing. I've gone to someone here in Portland who does muscle testing, and had great results with the mantras, supplements, and other advice she'd given me. I thought she was mostly using intuition from how simply & quickly the sessions flow, but reading this has really opened my eyes to this magnificent bridge between reductionist "scientific" thinking and the broader, unseen world around us. Seeing just how much research has been done into the many uses of muscle testing, and the uniformity of results is astounding. I had always seen this tool being used to decide what the person's body wants/needs, but it can be used to determine the truth or falsehood of a statement, and even whether the effect of a message/image/song is empowering or dis-empowering.

Here are a few highlights from what I've read so far:

Man's dilemma--now and always--has been that he misidentifies his own intellectual artifacts as reality. But these artificial suppositions are merely the products of an arbitrary point of perception. The inadequacy of the answers we receive is a direct consequence of the limitations implicit in the viewpoints of the questioner. Slight errors in the formation of questions result in gross errors in the answers that follow.

&

Society constantly expends its efforts to correct effects instead of causes, which is one reason why the development of human consciousness proceeds so slowly. Human beings are barely on the first rung of the evolutionary ladder; we haven't yet solved even such primitive problems as world hunger. In fact, the accomplishments of mankind thus far are most impressive for having been achieved--almost blindly--through trial and error. While the random search for solutions has resulted in a maze of baffling complexity, true answers always have the hallmark of simplicity. The basic law of the universe is economy. The universe doesn't waste a single quark; everything serves a purpose and fits into a balance--there are no extraneous events.

&

Societal choices, more often than not, are the result of expediency, statistical fallacy, sentiment, political or media pressure, or personal prejudice and vested interest. Crucial decisions affecting the lives of everyone on the planet are made under conditions that virtually guarantee failure. Because societies lack the necessary reality base for formulation of effective problem resolutions, they fall back, over and over, on a resort of force (in its various expressions--such as war, law, taxation, rules, and regulations), which is extremely costly, instead of employing power, which is very economical.
