Part Four of the series taken from Geoffrey of Monmouth’s ‘The History of the Kings of Britain tells the tale of the two brothers Belinus and Brennius who at first fought against one another but after making peace with each other, went on to conquer Gaul and Rome.
The King of Denmark joins the side of Brennius, but ends up paying tribute to Belinus and subjecting the Danes to tribute. These were brutal times, full of battles and wars, but it was also a time of honour, where people were expected to keep their word. Rome was only a target for occupation because they had gone back on their promise to pay tribute and tried to attack the two brothers while they were busy fighting the Germans.
