[Dev insights] How intuitive are STEEMMONSTERS? I play & comment without previous rules knowledge 🎮

I'm developer and not UX designer, but I know how valuable are insights of people who never saw the product before. As a member of team working on basically anything, you kind of align with the product to such extent, you accept it the way it is. Some things are suddenly natural for you. But those same things might not be as obvious for other first-time players.

Here the timestamps for devs to see how 1st timer understands the UI:
  • 00:56 - Trying to select the team (summoner vs team)
  • 02:05 - Realized MANA for a team is limited
  • 04:00 - Going into battle
  • 04:25 - Battle process - me not clicking at all???
  • 06:55 - No XP??? - practice mode
  • 09:00 - 3 Minutes wait for an opponent???
  • 14:30 - Me completely ignoring explanatory tooltips :DD OMG, I'm sorry, it was too early for me
  • 19:55- Finally grasping the concept of Ranged vs Melee attack :D
  • During the initial SteemMonsters boom couple of weeks ago, I've bought ca 20 packages and opened them. Sadly didn't find any legendary card and from then till today, I kind of left SteemMonsters out of my head. I know there have been many updates and battle mode has been explained, but I haven't kept up with it.

It will be a disadvantage during a gameplay. But I realised it might be interesting for the team to see how "a clean canvas" reacts to the game and how intuitive will it be for me. I tried to comment as much as possible sooo hope it provides some insights for the devs and the team :) Peace!

Also, I stopped recording out of nowhere as my team leader came in...I recorded this at work :DD

Sooo hope this helped at least a bit (@aggroed, @yabapmatt)..In case you get to see this at all:D...

My #1 suggestion would be to add card tooltips to window where team is being created. I remember hovering above the numbers on cards before I started recording. Because no tooltips showed up there I've probably overseen them later during a gameplay as well :)

Tooltips for what abilities do (Enrage, Inspire, Protect, etc) would be very helpful.
