I have been intermittent fasting for over 2 years now and it literally changed my life! Not only did I lose a bunch of weight but I also have a lot more energy and sleep better. Humans eat way to much and it kills our bodies. The reason fasting works is because after 12 hours of fasting your body will start burning fat instead of the food that you have ingested. If you really want to speed up weight loss try walking or working out after your 12th hour, you will see the weight just fall off.. Anyhow, I wish you luck in your endeavor.
