This is a poem I wrote and animated immediately after a night of long, soulful conversations with (what was then) a new friend. We talked of the vulnerability we all often ignore in both ourselves in one another as adults. I believe this may be responsible for the disconnect we often share.
One thing my experience has taught me is that seeing the soul in another human being, no matter how much smog or even gunk it's wrapped in, is a wonderful form of activism. It gives momentum to the beautiful tendencies we're willing to see. However, giving rise to the smog lets only that rise into destruction. It's the same smog that's responsible for climate change - it's the same mentality that has driven it. Society, in every facet feeds and rewards humanity's most vulgar characteristics, though the more often we flip the process and give energy to both our own and other's potential beauty, the better chance we all have in what feels an a nearby dystopia. Difficult conversations need to to be had, though a more rewarding outcome stems from the recognition that all people used to be a wonderful, yet vulnerable child...and now just slightly taller children.

Haha thank you so much. I wasn't sure whether to upload this as i had made it quite some time ago and cringe at it sometimes (as I tend to with most old work). I'm pleased to know others don't cringe as much ;)
