Boost Yourself

I have went back and forth on concepts of self upvoting and upvote bots. Putting the ethics asides, weather one supports these two methods as a form of self-promotion or tacky, is not my main concern. If a person main concern is to be seen then I say go for it. (as long as you also support others).

My main concern is when a person depends on that promotion as their only way of gaining views or support. I can see using these methods as a unknown or just starting out but that doesn't allow us to grow as artists. take writing for example. say I write a story or a post and use upvote bots and boost myself, now the post may be poorly written and thrown together but I will still benefit from exposure and upvotes but that won't allow me to write any better. comments may help, if their consent and said with good intent, but that too wont make me a better writer. Now, on the other hand, if I write and do not use upvote bots, that would force me to create a better piece that will organically gain support over time while simultaneously forcing me to learn and to grow and to write better.

That all being said, I see no real harm in using an upvote service if you feel that it the best way to go. The way I see it is all of the money and votes go back into the blockchain anyway. I have not used one of these bots yet but I do plan on testing at least one of two of them out as an experiment.

In reality, is an upvote bot any different than buying an ad on Facebook or Instagram?
