I am not a woman but the women I know tend to be risk averse. They work hard to make capital and putting money towards anything volatile would be risking resources used to provide for themselves and their family.

I really liked your point about women working hard to make capital in the first place. Although there have been big strides in society for more equitable pay - perhaps a lower level of confidence in their ability to earn more in the future ties into risk aversion.
