There were two main witnesses to this event, one of them taking a photo of the object as it passed in front of the sunset. It may have even come from the water, with a shimmering appearance as if water was falling off of it one of the witnesses reporting.
At the same time a group of boys playing Hockey saw an interesting object in the sky as well giving a curious report of what they saw.
The full story is below, a narration of the event is in the video.
"On the night of January 25th 2010 in Harbour Mille, Newfoundland it was chilly. Around 20F but otherwise fair conditions. This small village located east of Belleoram had a multiple UFO sighting that evening. They appeared like rockets, with a long fiery tail coming from the rear of the object.
It started around 5pm in the evening on Monday when Darlene Stewart was outside taking pictures of a sunset. When she saw a long thin shaped glimmering object in the direction she was taking photos. It appeared as if it just came out of the water.
She called her neighbor Emmy Pardy that grabbed their binoculars to see it closer.
“I went out on the patio and I zoomed in and I saw a humungous bullet, silver grey in color and it had flames coming out of the bottom and a trail of smoke”
A group of boys playing hockey saw something similar, they stated "We thought they were Transformers".
The RCMP initially stated the reports were due to a missile launch, though later retracted the statement, and the Office of the Prime Minister stated that the UFOs were not missiles.
Military experts discredit the possibility of ballistic and cruise missiles. DND's Directorate of Scientific and Technical Intelligence (DSTI) assessed the images and reported: "The object is not a ballistic missile, not a cruise missile in boost phase nor a cruise missile in-flight phase. It is also not a licensed model rocket launcher."
Newfoundland RCMP spokesperson Helen Cleary-Escott said no debris has been found.
“The RCMP has concluded it’s an unexplained sighting. It’s our final conclusion,” she said."
Cases of unknown aircraft have happened since the 1960s in Canada. And even a previous case in Newfoundland in 1978. A Constable of the RCMP saw a flying saucer hovering over the harbour near the down of Clarenville. When he arrived at the scene the UFO was still present and visible. When he switched on his roof lights of his police car the craft mimiced by flashing its own lights. Shortly after this the craft took off at a high speed into the clouds and disappeared.
