Watch Garden archaeology - My first DTube upload video on DTube
I'm sure my fans have been waiting for another vlog from me, but they are probably more keen on seeing the chickens. They do feature again this time. I've been busy fighting back the encroaching garden to recover some lost path. It doesn't take long to grow back.
I downloaded this from my phone to the PC, but I could probably upload to DTube directly. I know Viewly has a 100MB limit, but DTube doesn't seem to have a limit. This video was over 300MB. It's just great to have alternatives to Youtube. The main feature I want to see is embedded playback on Steemit, but you will have to click through to play for now.

YouTube must be shaking in their boots it is about time a legitimate rival cropped up @steevc. It's probably my computer but for some reason the video keeps freezing on me, i have been looking forward to a vlog of your garden

Maybe it's congestion on the network which could prove to be a good thing with the attention the website is getting @steevc
Just as I was uploading it to Youtube the DTube started playing. It is pausing, but it's pretty good considering they don't have all the infrastructure that Youtube have. I'm just happy that this service is available and it is likely to improve
That's good i will give it a watch now, DTube has some notable figures promoting it right now so it seems like a platform that could grow rapidly.

Dtube is really a good alternative but have you seen that some people are abusing again and using copyrighted Hollywood movies and share here on Steemit? This can be very bad for the platform.
This is quite a hot topic for the time being and hope that it stops as soon as possible.
It doesn't surprise me at all. Steemit and Dtube cannot be easily censored and so people will abuse them. It may be possible to get infringing videos off the main page at least, but those running it need to be wary of legal action against them, especially as they can profit from any content they host.
i tried two time but it didn't loaded at all :(
I tried several times. In the end I left that tab open and it eventually started playing. It's still work in progress, so it may still have some issues. It's still a good step forward
Yeah may be i heard that they are migrating the servers so that might be a problem too :) i hope it gets well

STOPHmm, the video isn't playing. I see mention of video format issues. This was straight from my Android phone. Should that work?
Update: It did play in the end. Maybe the IPFS network takes a while to catch up.

Thanks for trying out @dtube @steevc I hope you didn't get any major problems for uploading or anything. The video played just fine on my side.
You are right about what you say about copyrights, apart from the dtube 'hosting'. DTube does not need a hosting to run ;)
Also, I can now say for sure as the first beneficiary rewards are coming in, but it is definately 25% of the author rewards. So basically remove 25% from the displayed number for curators, then remove 25% again for dtube, then the author gets the rest. Beneficiary rewards are 100% SP (we don't get any SBD). Hope that clarifies it :D
