That's indeed a great thing that helps a lot when learning (new) types of sports. Maybe that's the moment when my thinker's brain doesn't stand in the way to success but helps me to exactly get there, hehe
How funny I should see this now, a few hours after reminiscing on the phone with my mother about our tennis playing days! The topic only came up because my brother dropped by to visit her on Mother's Day (after not seeing her for a number of years...long messy story), and told her that he and his new wife now play on a regular basis. He was a football player & body builder in his younger days, and used to tell us that tennis wasn't really a sport. π
Enough of my meander down memory lane - thanks for sharing that gloriously sunny & blue skied bit of happiness! Just what I needed to see on this gloomy, rainy Tuesday here in New Hampshire. In fact, I think I might've even burned a calorie or two just from smiling, so extra thanks for the vicarious exercise... π π
Oh, and I think, "If you get to control your thoughts, you'll be in control of your game" would make a wicked awesomesauce bumper sticker, because that rings true, no matter what the game is. Especially the game of life (and no, not the board game...LOL).
Oh, I love your comment!! Your memory lane just took me back to my own, haha. Tennis was an essential part of my childhood. Whenever some bigger tournaments were taking place and broadcasted on TV, the finals weekend became a true family event and we were all sitting in front of that screen, having some apple pie and cheering for our favorites :-)
Now I have a huge smile on my face, too! Thanks for that and have a wonderful day. Hope the weather is treating you better today :-)
Yay! So glad I could return the smile favor! Funny how little things, like a post about a lesson, can trigger a cascade of happy memories. π
I appreciate the good weather wishes, but it seems Mother Nature has her cranky pants on. My boy is learning how to ride a motorcycle, and asked me earlier today how the forecast was looking. Kid you not - the next ten days all say variations of "cloudy & rainy" with only one "partly sunny" in the bunch. But if we can't have a sunny May, at least we'll have a wicked green summer! π
I love tennis since I knew Nadal and Federer and now I have number three that is you @supermarly. Sending my love and regards. Have a nice day ahead Ma'am.
Hehe, that's very sweet!
I'm from the era when guys like Pete Sampras were leading the tennis world, but love to follow the new players, too. Today the game has become incredibly fast and I'm impressed by the strength the players show on the court for hours.
Have a nice day, too! And thanks for stopping by :-)
Great video! enjoyed the watch. not much of a tennis fan, but as a starting vlogger, i am appreciating the edits, music mix and other tech tricks more and more. Your vids score high in each of these categories. Perhaps the only element missing in this video is the personal touch. Who is this person learning to play tennis? Did she like it? finishing the video off with a remark (reflecting your style, content etc) would give it a personal touch and a brand (ugh, hate the word).) I am not meaning to be harsh here (believe me, i am not qualified to criticise), just my two cents based on impressions. (Upvoted!!)
Oh, what a sweet comment from this amazing 11,111th follower :-) Thank you!!!
You're totally right. What I usually do (and did a lot in the past) is storyboarding the videos before I even started filming.
Yet, I currently don't find the time to spend even more time on preparing and editing them, which is why they may have lost some of its initial gloss. I hope that doesn't sound like a bad excuse, haha. But again: you're totally making a point here, and since I'm a marketing person you can use the word 'brand' as often as you want :-)
Let's see if I'll be able to again provide this with some more love to detail in the future.
Thanks for stopping by and leaving your valuable thoughts!
Wishing you a grand Tuesday
I have never storyboarded in my life so there you go. No judgements from my end! There is a lot for me to learn still, that's for sure. Glad you appreciate my thoughts and thank you for your insightful answer. Bests, Edgar.
So here's another insight: from my personal opinion one of the most important things when editing such action videos is that the rhythm of the music is corresponding with the cuts. From my experience it makes the whole thing appear much more professional.
For instance, today it took me a couple of minutes to get that high five moment exactly where I wanted it to be. Focus on the timestamp at 0:44min: when our hands come together there's a hard break in the music. That's also why I used a slow motion here: I wanted to emphasize that great moment of teamwork.
Again, thanks for the great conversation and have a happy day :-)
That IS a really cool insight. what editing software do you use? i am wanting to bring multiple vids together newbie style. need to work out how best to do that. Ok, off now checking out sec 44! thanks again!!
Hello @surfermarly, what a joy that you can start a Tuesday with full concentrated exercises, I congratulate you, mine starts at 5 am, to prepare breakfast for my daughter who goes to school, I enjoy doing it, then I eat at the bus stop that takes her to school, then to run to prepare myself to go to work, the exercise touches me in the afternoon that I take my son to karate classes and while he is there I take advantage of walking and let my thoughts fly, thank you for sharing and happiness always.
Oh wow, you've got a packed day @marimex! Starting the day early can be a true gift if you're able to share that valuable time with your family. I can totally relate and would definitely love to have breakfast with my daughter if I had one :-))
Yes. This is another form of creativity in art. Swinging your arms in tennis represents a motion in art that describes the pattern and shape of the body at the very time you make each move playing back the ball. You must have really had a nice touch under the bluesky playing the Tennis.....
@surfermarly, Yes, if we control our thoughts then definitely we can control our life effectively. And one point i really liked and that is, the secret is hiding in not tyring too hard, sometimes we push so hard that we actually pushing us into pain and our thinking process drains.
So let's relax and let it flow. And definitely when we stay in relaxed state we can achieve more productive results. Stay blessed.
That's wonderful that you are able to play the game of tennis. Not everyone can play it. But I'm sure one must have passion to do what they love to do best and that discipline of mine, body, and soul is all part of it. Thanks for sharing your love of tennis.
Your game looks quite professional except the serve. I am not a die hard fan of tennis but I do watch some games often and I feel tennis is hardest sport to master. I have also heard people tell it is quite difficult to play and not as easy as it seems to be. Is it true?
I love your swift move and fast learning ability @surfermarly.
Much happiness!

Overall, pretty good form! Keep working on that serve! πΎ
Thank you @brettcalloway!!
The serve has always been my weak point, but I have the whole summer to improve on it :-)

You are most welcome

You nailed it @surfermarly, and you got a good workout as a bonus.

Win win!! Hehe, thanks for reminding me of it :-)
π
The only thing you need to improve on your serve is your grunt.
When you watch professional tennis, every serve involves a guttural grunt.
If you master the grunt, you master the serve. :-P
Wuuut? Haha, I hope you're kidding πππ
100% kidding ... but, from now on, when you watch Professional tennis, you will listen for their grunts and will be impressed!!! HAHAHAHA
lol - I'm a kid of the 80ies and perfectly remember the Queen of Grunts Monica Seles. One could think she was literally dying on the court :-D
I don't know if I'd ever go that far... hahaha
On that note ... If you can start swearing like John McEnroe, you might really improve your game.
Haha, you bet!
And I'd most definitely have to start arguing with my instructor (vs. referee) like the Williams sisters do :-D
There's still a lot to learn though...
90 seconds complete.... Great dear. weather view nice.

Totality is very important. Do not play agame in playing a game.π
Firstly, thank you for posting the competion and supporting the #Seven77 movement.
Yes, most things are mental game.
Visualisation is really important because it helps to focus the mnd on what you want to happen.
