Ski with me #2 – World Cup slope in Hinterstoder!

in #dtube7 years ago

Even though weather has not been good today, my girlfriend and me went skiing in Hinterstoder, Upper Austria. In this video I will show you parts of the track being used for worldcup races.

The track is named "Hannes-Trinkl-Weltcupstrecke" after an Austrian downhiller - Hannes Trinkl. He won six world cup races, bronze at the olympic downhill race in Nagano (JAP) 1998 and the gold medal in the 2001 world championships in St. Anton (SUI) at the downhill race. The slope is about 3500 meters long and has a inclination of up to 60 degrees.

As you can see in the video, it was quite snowy today. Enjoying a meal outside was definitely not an option today!

Despite the fact that tons of natural snow were falling down today, they still had turned on all snow cannons in order to produce artificial snow! Have you ever seen a snow cannon? Well, here is one blowing out masses of snow!

Well, I hope you can enjoy the video - Please ignore today's english - It just wasn't on point. Lost track in my mind countless times - The skiing needed more attention today! You will see why ;)

Until next time!

that place looks great

It doesn't just look that way ;)

Thanks for letting me take you on this trip;))
I only drive skis to my Playstation myself! So much nicer for me to ride with you once in a while ;)

Great you like it :) There is definitely more to come!

Oh this reminds me my first and only time skiing, which is in Austria too! I was an Austauschschueler in Germany for one year (about 9 years ago), and my host family was kind enough to bring me on a ski holiday at Austria. It was an eye opening experience for me because I am from Malaysia, a country at the Equator where we will not see snow (maybe we will near the end of the world =P).

Me struggling with the ski LOL

Haha I hope you still had some fun :) Props for having the guts to try it out!

Actually I had a lot of fun at the end of the week. Planning to try ski again in Asia, maybe in Korean or Japan.

WOW fantastic pictures. I guess your 50 runs are on hold for the moment? I', om 32 now, among those 2 langlauf 'runs'. I don't know if you have seen your first post recently, but I recommended 2 more people to join the challenge and post so now I have 3 people who joined because of me as well. We're in this together, don't drop the focus now!

I will soon post another running post ;) ATM busy with skiing and @welcoming :P Thx for spreading the word!

We're in this together, just trying to keep you motivated as well ;-)

Oh wow. The steep track looked a little scary. Also, I would've never thought they would have to blow out artificial snow if there's already so much out there. What's the reason behind this?

It actually might be if you are not a well trained skier - The stars are racing down with almost 100km/h - I'm glad I was a little bit slower in the video :D

The reason behind this is, that they want to get a thick snow layer above the grass. The more the better. The more, the longer the slopes can be opened :)

Woahh. Skiing sure isn't for the faint heart :P

they want to get a thick snow layer above the grass

Ahhh I see. Makes sense as natural snowfall all season may not be reliable enough.

Wow how beautiful. It brings back such great memories though I have not skied for years now! 😂

Whats the reason? :(

I keep being lured to hot countries ! 😂😂

Well, I guess I can't feel sad for you then, sorry :D

I would love to go skiing again, have missed the last 2 winters already, and am desperately looking forward to find the time this year.

Grüß die berge,

and if you have some spear time, have a look at My Blog, and especially the "why humans think" post, (I integrated your suggestion).

Where do you normally go skiing? :)

I have been in italy for some years (Dolomiten). But it always is constraint by time and money. You probably have many opportunities to "use" the power of the mountain?

Yeah, within two hours I can reach dozens of them :D

The trees have become more beautiful after the snow on the trees. thanks @theaustrianguy

That's cool ! :-)

Beautiful, the one thing I miss about winters is the skiing.

thank you for taking us skiing with you! ;) This weather would be a reason for me to go rodeling instead, though ;)

I used to work at a ski resort and employees could ski for free so I took some lessons and almost broke my arm. :( But it was fun until that point lol...I would like to try it again but I don't have the nerve. lol.

Yeah, unfortunately quite a lot fo people get hurt by skiing. But that's most often a combination of overloaded self esteem and bad skills! But often also just bad luck :(

Oh, wow! Looks like it's freezing!

Skiing looks really fun and exhilarating when you know how to ski but on the other hand it seems terrifying when you don't know to!
