My new year started in the church it is a common tradition among Nigerian churches to host cross over service for their members.
As the clock ticked a few seconds to 00:00 hrs as the worship went on in expectancy of the wonderful moment of celebration for the coming year. Suddenly it was a shout of "Happy New year", its 12:00 am so the new year is here as people were jumping, leaping, hugging one another, smiling, some crying(tears of joy that is), others dancing as the fireworks followed.
As I was coming back home it was a glorious sight of candle lights everywhere and bonfires at almost every junction as the young and old alike lit up the street with amazing fireworks all the way. Finally getting back home at 1 am for the first time since the previous year, it was like a new home for the new year as bottles popping followed with countless toasts as excitement filled the air that the new year is finally here and yes we made it together.
