China has an incredible advantage over the rest of the world when it comes to rare earth minerals. They produce the vast majority of rare earth used across the world. These are used in advancing technology and are needed more and more. A disruption in the supply of these materials would cause a massive problem for the development and expansion of that country. Could China actually cut off the U.S. from its rare earth supply?

That would be interesting. The other more expensive to extract sources for rare earth metals may come into play then?
If supply is Short perhaps there is an alternative element for that rare Earth minerals.
I know rare Earth materials are available in the US but guess what, its mostly located in the California deserts. Also, guess what, California environmental laws do not like mining of anything, period! A few years ago, China had done this to Japan and that is when we realized, we were screwed because of that. So, I believe there is a deal to reopen the one mine in California but I pretty sure we are we behind in production.
This mine sold for $20.5M in 2017. Well worth its price.
