On Wednesday 17th January 2018 YouTube decided to change their YouTube Partner Program Policy. In other words, they terminated all small YouTubers eligibility to earn revenue from their videos. They sent me and many other YouTubers an email containing information such as YouTube Channels being demonetized...

Today we are announcing changes to the YouTube Partner Program (YPP). While our goal remains to keep the YPP open to as many channels as possible, we recognize we need more safeguards in place to protect creator revenue across the YouTube ecosystem.

What's Changing
Under the new eligibility requirements announced today, your YouTube channel, Tricki, is no longer eligible for monetization because it doesn’t meet the new threshold of 4,000 hours of watch time within the past 12 months and 1,000 subscribers. As a result, your channel will lose access to all monetization tools and features associated with the YouTube Partner Program on February 20, 2018, unless you surpass this threshold in the next 30 days. Accordingly, this email serves as 30 days notice that your YouTube Partner Program terms are terminated.
One of YouTube’s core values is to provide anyone with the opportunity to earn money from a thriving channel. Creators who haven’t yet reached this new threshold can continue to benefit from our Creator Academy, our Help Center, and all the resources on the Creator Site to grow their channels. Once your channel reaches the new threshold, it will be reviewed to make sure it adheres to our policies and guidelines, and if so, monetization will be re-enabled.

Since DTube/Steemit do not try to neglect the smaller creators most people may transition themselves onto this platform where you can pretty much do the same thing that you could do on YouTube! This certainly will allow for the platform to grow and reach new height and hopefully height higher than YouTube could ever reach! I'm also almost certain that people who are new to steemit will definetly enjoy and may find it better on this platform than on YouTube as the community is absolutely fantastic!

Yez it is!
YouTube really has become an industry outlet of the mainstream media. My channel on climate science was terminated two times last year, then mysteriously returned, no explanation given. New videos only get views for a couple of days then basically are not much watched, unless it is an ongoing event. And then half of my videos are demonetized within minutes after published, including straight science talks, NASA videos, oh and then you have copyright claims on a regular basis for public domain material. YouTube is a total mess.
Exactly my point smh! 🤦🏾♂️ Let’s wish the best for Steemit and DTube and put in twice as much effort than we did on YouTube!💪🏾😁
Yeah I agree. With demonetization of small YouTube account, a lot of those people being affected by this will change over to DTube if they know about this platform! But I think at the beginning it won’t hurt YouTube as they earn most of their money with the big ones. Only if a lot of those change completely over YouTube will get problems. I guess this won’t happen as YouTubers will stick to their accounts, earn their money they already get there and meanwhile abuse DTube to recycle their content. I’m worried this will happen to DTube...
I understand your uneasiness with Dtube replicating what YouTube has committed which I also agree with that point. However, I think it’s best that we belief DTube will instead make YouTube reverse or change some of the nonsense in their YouTube program policy for the better when DTube Dethrones them. This may allow for some of those policies towards content creators to be out of the picture for most social media. (Hopefully)😁
I can only say that dtube rules...not only the platform but also the community!!! It's just freaking amazing!! On top of that, we are like a family man!! Everybody cares about one another and trying to grow together!
