RE: Stop Posting YouTube Videos On Steem

in #dtube5 years ago

DTube has a lot of problems.

  1. Even with really good internet, more often than not, the videos are unwatchable.

  2. Every time I've recently linked to a specific video, it just displays a blank screen with the top and bottom DTube menu, but the video is not there. Only typing in the main URL d.tube/[nothingelse] seems to display videos at all.

  3. You have to have desktop with an outgoing server and pin your own videos (which I cannot do at this time) or have onelovedtube Discord pin it for you; or else they'll be deleted forever. Eventually you'll run out of free space through them and have to pay for it.

  4. 480p seems to be the maximum resolution. That's 1980's standard analog quality.

  5. You can only post 1 tag, plus the default DTube tag. You have to go on steempeak or another site that allows more than 5 tags and edit in more tags.

  6. My last upload didn't post to Steem at all.

  7. Most times I've tried to upload, I had to do it several times without getting an error message when you hit publish.

  8. It always takes like 30 minutes or more to upload, if you're lucky, and each upload attempt usually fails when you hit publish.

  9. Only the 2 initial tags you used on DTube display on tribe sites, even after you edit it for the blockchain. Unfortunately there are many Steem users who will only upvote you if you tagged a lot of the tribes they have staked.

  10. I don't think a website that much of a mess should be making a blockchain on top of it.

  11. The entire text format is different on DTube than Steem. Links on DTube don't work. HTML doesn't work. It's very incompatible with Steem.

  12. On Dtube, ever since the testnet, every video I've published created duplicate copies. God forbid that happens on Steem. I'm scared to even edit on Steem when I have the DTube tag.

I've already told them on their discord server everything I've said here. I am on their side, and I do still make alternate videos exclusively for DTube. I'll always embed the YouTube version in my posts since DTube is so hard to watch. I hate YouTube with a passion, and I'm on team DTube, and I want them to be better. In my situation, it would be in my best interest to skip DTube and just embed my YouTube videos (as I had to do last time since it didn't post to Steem). I wouldn't have to give 10% beneficiary that way, but I'm sticking with them, hoping they get it all straight and compatible with Steem.

There's one more thing I want to say, but I'd better not. It's related to 3speak.
