Our family enjoys fireworks. The dog....not so much. So one of us stays in the house with her playing an action flick loud to distract her from the celebrations outside.

Same here. Mom takes care of the dog and now cat too. We put the pets in a room with either AC or a Fan running as ambient noise to block out the outside noise. It helps with most except the REALLY loud bangs and occasional whistler which my cat absolutely hates.
