I have been using https://duckduckgo.com as my default search engine both on my laptop and phone for a very long time.
There's a killer feature of DuckDuckGo that I heavily use: !bangs.
Bangs provide shortcuts to search thousands of websites directly from your address bar.
For example, !yt bob dylan hard rain
returns YouTube search results right away. You can see it in action here: https://lmddgtfy.net/?q=!yt%20bob%20dylan%20hard%20rain
Some more examples:
!bang | for ... |
---|---|
!i | for images |
!v | for videos |
!w | for wikipedia |
!tw | for twitter |
!m | for maps |
You can put the bang pattern any where in your search, in the beginning, middle or end.
You can check the full list of bangs at: https://duckduckgo.com/bang or you can search for a keyword like !bang books.
I've too been using duckduckgo.com as my default search engine for a long time, but didn't know about these shortcuts. Will check them out. Thanks!
!gsc for google scholar
I am going to have to try it out. Thanks!
