Dunkirk - mini review

Is Dunkirk worth paying your hard earned money to see at the cinema? YES!!
Christopher Nolan has attempted to capture the infamous evacuation of over 300,000 troops from Dunkirk. What he has achieved is nothing short of brilliant, this is a blockbuster movie of pure class.
From the opening scene of british soldiers walking down a street and coming under brutal gun fire this film never lets up. It is stays away from the all out horror of blood and dismembered bodies instead focusing on racheting up the tension. This was a truly immersive experience, where I was on the edge of my seat for the 1hr 45minutes running time. Captured using IMAX film and using real ships, planes and a army of extras, it was almost indistinguishable from the real thing - my eyes were glued to the screen.
Make no mistake this is a film about survival and is grim, there are moments that are quite uplifiting and there are some that will have you on the edge of tears. You will feel like you have been through your own war after leaving the cinema. This is superb and I recommend everyone see on the big screen 5 out of 5
