How often is it that you see two of the leagues best players simultaneously get sidelined for the immediate future? News broke this morning of Kawhi Leonard's knee injury which originally sounded like a knee sprain that which is now a possible ACL tear. An injury like this not only rules him out of this postseason, but also likely the entirety of next season as well. For the Clippers, this is devastating.
The Suns also received bad news as well as Chris Paul has been put into COVID protocol. This could remove him completely from the upcoming series versus the winner of the Clippers and Jazz series. Chris Paul is the leader and catalyst of a very young and inexperienced Suns team. Without him, I doubt they could push the Western Conference Finals to 6 games which is why I think this is a bigger blow than the Kawhi injury to the Clippers.
Either way, both teams are still alive and fighting to move forward into the Finals. Comment below who you think is the bigger loss to their respective team.
This was terrible for the NBA and for these two individual players. Two of the best in the world went down on the same day it was really crazy. These playoffs have had a ton of injuries and I wonder if it has anything to do with the very short break between the bubble season and this season. Perhaps we are seeing signs of the best athletes in the world reaching their limit; except Chris Paul who probably just hugged someone he shouldn't have; hope to see him back ASAP
