The sun proves the earth is moving? What has been measured? what has been tested? Even Einstien said “I have come to believe that the motion of the Earth cannot be detected by any optical experiment.” I guess you out did Einstein ;)

I observe Earth's rotation with an "Optical experiment" every day when I rely on data from polar orbiting earth observation satellites (Sentinel 2A and 2B). Although they go in a polar orbit (as opposed to alongside the equator) what's beneath them changes with each orbit at the exact same rate as Earth's rotation speed.

I would be happy to receive any evidence that the data from these satellites are fake so that I can stop wasting my time (you can find it all here if you're interested). But so far, we're able to use the data to spot forest fires and illegal deforestation, monitor and protect water reserves, and help provide images after natural disasters. So at least it's doing good work for humanity despite being "fake" :)

Have a nice day.

I suppose you missed the part where I mentioned can YOU measure or test ? Using practical repeatable natural science . Surely we can rely on supposed orbiting satellites ( which I dont see how that proves the EARTH is moving , its the satellite that orbits) So no YOU dont observe earth rotation, you interpreted data that you have no first hand access to or verification of, and are using the strawman argument of spotting forest fires etc as an observation of the earth moving?? I think not, forest fires and water reserves and images of natural disasters can easily be taken from high altitude instruments (drones, high altitude craft, balloons etc) and in no way proves the earth is moving. If that observation of the earth moving is factual im sure there would be other experiments that can be done to confirm such motion. Thats where your straw man appeal to authority arguments fall apart. Its not about data being fake or real, but interpretation of data based on faulty assumptions.

I suppose you missed the part where I mentioned can YOU measure or test?

No, I did not miss that. I've built and launched a satellite as a student myself which we equipped with our own communications device and observed how we received the signal at different ground stations across the world as the satellite passed over them. So that is me doing an experiment.

Surely we can rely on supposed orbiting satellites ( which I dont see how that proves the EARTH is moving , its the satellite that orbits) So no YOU dont observe earth rotation

Yes, it does observe that the Earth rotates around its axes. The satellite moves in a straight line from the North pole to the south pole and back above the North pole, making no turns or manoeuvers. Yet the ground underneath changes with each orbit and it changes at exactly the same rate as the Earth's rotation speed. That is both proof of rotation and it is also a direct observation of data that we do have "first-hand access to" and we can (and have) validated repeatedly.

using the strawman argument of spotting forest fires etc as an observation of the earth moving

I did not invoke that as proof of rotation. Only referenced it to share with you what I am using the data for in my job, and also noting the fact that at the very least it works and has real-life benefits.

I think not, forest fires and water reserves and images of natural disasters can easily be taken from high altitude instruments (drones, high altitude craft, balloons etc)

  1. If you can obtain the same amount of data, updated at the same frequencies and with the same quality as we receive via the source I gave you above, then I will quit my job immediately and join you to make a startup. Because that would be amazing abd we would get rich.

  2. No, you can't get that large amounts of data "easily" with drones, balloons or aircraft. We receive new images of every single corner of the Earth every week with our satellites. Planet also provides new images every single day. You would need an amazing amount of drones, balloons or planes to do that repeatedly over every corner of the world. It's also easily disproved as most countries have good control over their own aerospace and while I have 24/7 access to new images above any corner of the world every single day, there are not drones/planes etc overneath every single corner all the time.

If that observation of the earth moving is factual im sure there would be other experiments that can be done to confirm such motion.

I have just given you one, and @justtryme90 gave you another (i.e the reappearance of the sun). How many would you need? Or what would it take to prove it to you?

Thats where your straw man appeal to authority arguments fall apart.

When did I appeal to authority? I'm just sharing how I use satellite data myself, and I try to explain how I see it as evidence of a round earth and of rotation. I am not claiming authority and I am curious to hear your opinion too.

Fine then use one of these:

It's a non optical experiment.
