We need to take care of the Earth, but people are distracted by and argue about terms, such as climate change. How could we get each person to care and work towards the health of our Earth, just like we care for the health of our bodies, minds and spirits?

There are quite a few possible metrics as to the health of the Earth:
Air
Animals
Biodiversity
Carbon
Chemicals
Climate
Coral Reefs
Disasters
Disease
Drinking Water
Erosion
Explosions
Flora
Food
Humans
Nitrogen
Oceans
Radiation
Soil
Solar Energy
Waste
Weather
Perhaps you can think of others?
What if a person or company was charged a tax for each dollar earned that went to a fund to help care for the Earth? It brings the awareness home. But, there is then the issue of who administers the metrics and the funds. Would just simply sharing the metrics with everyone cause improved action, or are tactics, such as taxes required?
It might be interesting to do this as a theoretical exercise, determining how much tax would be collected at what time and estimating the valuable investments with the taxes and watching what would have likely happened with those funds. Then, perhaps do a test with increasing awareness about the metrics in a population and measure the behavioral and perceived effects. Perhaps for another post...

Can you imagine a ticker tape on Times Square in New York reporting the Earth's health metrics instead of stock prices? That's when we know the tides have turned, perhaps. Or, it might be a nice test.
Thoughts?
