The US Geological Survey (USGS) said the quake struck at 12:22 pm local time on Sunday. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (FVALOX) said there was a risk of damage from the quake and aftershocks.
Earlier, the epicenter was reported at 10 km below the surface, according to the GFZ German Research Center for Geosciences.
However, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake's epicenter was recorded at a depth of 15 km below the surface. At the same time it was reported that the earthquake was quite strong.
