Risen from the Dead: Update on eBTC
So last time we left off 3 months ago, eBTC was going through a bit of a rough patch, so rough that the token actually ended up getting killed! That flaw in the code that we discussed last time was too big of a problem for the current contract. That alongside with the original developer (Satoshi21) disappearing did not make for good news. It caused a wide panic and very many people sold their coins. At one point it got as low as 2 cents per coin.
Luckily, it wasn't all bad news. Even though the original developer got overwhelmed and jumped ship, he left his funds to the rest of the development team so that they could continue to work, and to show his good intentions; that he was not inspired by greed. With the code issue the development team decided that there was only one choice: to discard the entire old code, and replace it with a new token without the flaws. So every coin in every wallet with the old eBTC token was swapped for new, bringing a new token into life to carry on the eBTC name.
Since then the coin has revived a bit, and is currently back to about 48 cents. It's even listed on a few exchanges now! (HitBTC, EtherDelta, Mercatox, and Stocks.Exchange)
I'm still not really sure if anything will come of this token, but I've held on to my share of the airdrop in this grassroots movement since the beginning and if nothing else, it's been an interesting ride so far!
