Actually my kitty was super amazing and her line of mousing cats were the backbone of my grandparents farm defense against the hordes of mice.
The farm had to keep a regular balance of at least 30 mousing cats to keep mice away from the main house.
My kitty ruled with an iron palm and would regulate how much food from the slop buckets that the feral cats could access.
There was always people ditching their cats and we would have to clean things out and lower the population from time to time using various methods such as trapping.
However my Kitty and her group were specifically exempted. Extra special dinner treats were always handed out and her and her clan got to eat their fill because they spent the far majority of their diet removing the mice at the edge of the field.
My big cat had big problem when I had it here some long time back :))) .... he didn't catch many mice, I think they were too small for his size, but he caught all the squirrels in the nearby woods and kept them under terror.
Every summer I was get two of them in every summer week in my garden :)))
True enlightenment is being able to live in harmony with all the critters in your world.
