Let me give you a little example to make it clearer why we need to set goals.
About a month ago, a young man (let's call him F.B.) came to me and asked for advice on his work. F.B. is a polite young man. I am not married yet. I graduated from university about four years ago. He introduced himself. What is he doing now? His education; He talks about his family and his hobbies. Finally, he offered to advise her that she wanted to change jobs.
I asked him:
- "What kind of job do you want to do when you want to change jobs?"
He said
"I came to the teacher for that. I do not know what kind of work I want to do."
In fact, his problem is with many young people. What do they want to be? They do not know what they want to do. I thought it would not work to help F.B. interview a lot of companies. Try a job If that doesn't happen, it's still a way to get more involved with the expat community here. I thought of something. This means that the F.B. will only know what he wants to do if he knows what he wants to be.
So I told him this.
"Now let us look at your case from this perspective. Explain to me how you want your image to be 10 years from now."
F.B thought carefully about my words and replied:
"As far as I can tell, I'm just like everyone else, sir. I'm doing a well-paying job and wanting to own a nice house. To be honest, I never thought of that before. Now I can only think about it."
I told him. Many, like him, do not think about what they want to do in the future. What it looks like is that someone came to the ticket counter at an airline office and said to the ticket seller, 'Give me a ticket.' The ticket seller asked him again, 'Where are you going?' "I do not know where to go," he said. The ticket seller said, 'Then I can not help you. I can only sell tickets if you tell me where you want to go. ' It may seem ridiculous, but where in the world do you want to go? There are a lot of people who do not know what they want to happen.
F.B. has been thinking about this for a long time. He then admitted that he was like him. The two of us continued talking for another two hours. What works are good in our discussion? It does not include bad things. I just explained to him the goal and the benefits of having a goal.
I think Because F.B has gained an important insight into his life. That knowledge is 'you need to know where you want to go before you start your journey'.
