Map of Australia Using Only Highways, Roads and Tracks

Sydney PhD student Robbi Bishop-Taylor created the maps, which show almost 500,000 roads, tracks and highways across Australia - painting a picture of distinctly urban and coastal-dwelling country.
The roads have been colour coded, with yellow and white representing major roads and highways, dark blue marking unsealed dirt tracks, and pink and orange showing minor unsealed and sealed roads.
The maps were created with spatial and geographic data from Geoscience Australia, the government scientific agency that carries out research on geography, geophysics and ecology, among other disciplines.

More than 80 percent of Australians live within 50 kilometres of the coastline, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, something that is reflected in Mr Bishop-Taylor's maps.
