Ground Level Situation in Waikiki
Aloha, the last couple of months have been a period of uncertainty. During this period the search for locations continued. The small business environment in Waikiki has changed drastically. Demolitions of Kings Village complex where Rock Island Cafe used to be along Liliuokalani and Queen Emma St. is underway. The entire section where Seaside Bar and Grill $4.95 breakfast deal, Pho Old Saigon used to be along Seaside and Kuhio Avenue is demolished and gone along with other business tenants operating in that block forced to vacate their spaces. Despite the continual rise in rents and scarcity for viable space, a new location was found through exhaustive search. Over the previous 2.5 months, we were turned down by Park Shore Waikiki Hotel, Waikiki Banyan landlords appear to focus exclusively on vacation rentals refused our interest in long term lease. Queen Kapiolani, Waikiki Resort hotel were unresponsive. We searched spaces in the Monserrat area but rents were $7000+ a month. Spaces near Waikiki in the Kapahulu area had major deficiencies without parking or adequate space etc. Thankfully we were able to find a new home through a generous local landlord operating a psychiatry practice at Eaton Square.
The idea of closing permanently and moving on was contemplated after sustaining substantial losses. After conferring with our Reception and therapists, they expressed their wanting to return and resume their work with us. Their sentiments along with consideration for gift certificate recipients who are still owed services, sentiments of repeat guests and a personal void felt during the recent idle period during the prior few months have compelled us to resume.
Gift Certificate Recipients
We are sorry to cause worry to all gift certificate recipients requesting to redeem their treatments during the temporary closure period. We are now able to receive and fully service your requests.
