It makes some sense at "street level," to be sure. More and more people seem to be hanging on by a thread... when the threads start breaking there will be a landslide.

Many people are hurting all over the world. I'm sure it won't be a pretty sight if and when the system does go.
I doubt it will be very dramatic... more like a slow landslide that never ends; people thinking "It can't possibly get worse!" and then it gets a little worse. Lather, rinse, repeat. A long slow decline (10 years? 15 years?) that pulls all the "empty space" out of the economic system. Almost all "middlemen" will disappear...
