I now live in a tiny house in Holland just on the border of a huge expanse of nature, forests, hills, and endless meadows. I've often seen a wild horse here and there, and there are tonnes of sheep, cows, and other animals all around us.. Living in nature is such a treat really, who needs a huge house when you have this much nature! Not me! So, this morning I went for my morning jog along the heather and was just nearing the end of my way when i looked over to my left and spotted a huge number of wild horses in a lovely big group all eating grass together and grooming themselves. It felt like such a blessing and was so amazing to see that i want to share them with you.
Here are some of them, they were scattered around so i couldn't get them all in one shot!
I just couldn't help but approach them and hoped they wouldn't be scared of me. The first horse seems quite oblivious to me as crept right up to him. He even looked up to say Hi! Can you feel how happy he is just eating grass on a beautiful sunny morning?
So then i walked up to the main group of about 20 horses who were all busy eating and 2 of them were preening each other so nicely. It always makes me happy to see animals look after to each other.
Look as this horse's sweet little face!
And now the moment of truth, can i pet them!? Its only when you actually touch them that you find this out.. Either they will move away, potentially push you, or if you are lucky they will just enjoy it..And .. no problem.. the horse didn't mind at all so i petted a few of them.. so friendly! Here's another one who held super still for me as i petted it.. I could feel she really enjoyed it.
Amazing huh! These horses live in the wild through the year, including the freezing cold winters. They survive by huddling together in packs and keep warm using their body heat. Nature is so amazing, these horses were the highlight of my day!
The second highlight was eating my vegan homemade frozen coconut yogurt wth peanut butter, maple syrup, coco ice lolly! Thanks to @heart-to-heart for this recipe.. it was delicious!
CHEERS @heart-to-heart!
Have a great day all, lets enjoy the simple joys of life!

thanks for stopping by! yes lucky me huh! my dream now is to brush them all .. haha!
So so nice!! I love horses, and it makes me so happy that they are able to live wild there where you are! And love that you have tried @heart-to-heart ice cream!! Lol, need to try it too!
Love it! I had no idea that wild horses could be found in Holland. I LOVE your post. Thank you very much. And, I can't wait to try that recipe.
Sincerely, I'm seeing wild version of horse for the very first time and, obviously, it's wild . I'll commend your courage @eco-alex for moving to pet them because most wild animals I've encountered were always aggressive.
thanks a lot! yeah you have to be careful.. and if your energy is relaxed and you know how to approach them it is Ok. but yes you HAVE to be very cautious when you do as they can really hurt you if they want! these guys were really friendly and nice though!
This is outstanding - I've loved our western mustangs since I was a kid, but I had no idea there were still wild horses in Holland!
I have a tiny lot in northern New Mexico, right next to the Colorado border, and it is a mere nine miles from one of the designated wild horse wilderness areas.
Our wild horses are far less likely to allow approach, however, both because of the far vaster spaces involved, and because the Bureau of Land Management (or Mismanagement, as my grandfather referred to them) has an ongoing program to capture and sell a number of the horses each year, depleting the gene pool, and resilying in far more inbreeding than if they actually respected the horses enough to leave them alone.
Ah, the injustices committed in the pursuit of money. It's a real shame.
Yes that makes a difference! Were not even supposed to stray off the paths here or intefere with thenwild horses here.. but i do and enjoy feeding them carrots! Im sure these horses have never seen humam aggression toward them.. dutch and usa are quite different! Hunting animals here is a rare hobby!
That's how the horses on Chincoteague Island in Virginia are treated. There are mostly left alone, so have no fear of humans, and it is possible to interact with them.
I wish we treated ALL our wild horses that way. Over 80% of those polled want the round ups to stop, and for the horses to be left alone, but the BLM isn't about to let go of a money maker, particularly one that fills its coffers on a regular basis. Sigh.
Of course, I've known people who are good with horses who have been able to interact with the western mustangs, but they are much more skittish, and a great deal more patience is required.
ecotrain is a good platform for us.............
This is so amazing!! Wow. What a beautiful experience <3
Ooh now I'm jealous! Horses are magnificent beings and I love it when they are free and wild. You're very lucky! Looks like you had an awesome day. Thank you for sharing. 😊
what an amazing start you have had to your day, I love to be around horses and the fact that they let you pet them, well that just goes to show how calm and fully present you are, horses really pick up on energy and if they do not like what you are transmitting then they do not wish to be around you, love the photo's, my girls are very jealous and love the last photo xx
Thank u ! Yea i was so overjoyed i guess they just knew and felt it.. lol! I was nervous to approach them but they were totally cool woth it. Tomorrow im bringing a brush for sure. Im gonna try brishing them as they are a bit dirty this year;)
A wonderful experience. I can't wait to get some land and a tiny house 💯🐒
That's looking amazing photography of yours. @heart to heart🙂

That was so cool Alex!!! You took us into the meadow with you... I almost thought I was there for a moment. Horses have been my favorite animal since I was a little kid! I even went swimming with them when I was little, in the sea!!!
Thank you for showing us these beautiful creatures. And you look so hapoy eating that ice cream!
Hey Alex! I'm super excited to hear you liked the coco treats :) Also interested to see you're now in Holland with all of those pretty horsies around! It's been a while since we caught up so I didn't realize you had moved! Looks lovely there though! Great day for a popsicle ;) <3
