THANK YOU to all who took part on this QOTW.. I was very curious what you would all have to say, because I do often wonder what does hold people back from moving and living in an ecoVillage. I have met countless hundreds if not thousands of people over the last 10 years, and most of them have expressed a desire to live off grid and be self sufficient. Thinking about it, very few of them spoke much about that being in a community, probably because most of them would like to live their life freely and without the complications of community and .. people! I think quite a few of you spoke about this point, although there were many other reasons besides. A few of you have already lived in communities, and for one reason and another, they were complicated and a source of stress. I have also lived in a community in India for the past 14 years, and have also seen this community fail, and I have learned a lot in the process of watching it do so.
Call me crazy, but my vision for ecoVillage doesn’t feel like the stories I read, or hear from friends about their experiences. The vision i have just feels SO different! Most communities that I hear about are basically a pocket of people who are still living in the matrix and zeitgeist of scarcity thinking, competition, and an overall disconnection between families. The reason that this happens so often is, in my opinion, due to poor communication, and a community that doesn't work synergistically! The way to change this is to change the entire paradigm of the community and how it functions from the ground up! Just how I plan to do this will be revealed very soon, I have been very busy this past two months getting my ecoVillage vision crystallised, but let me start by saying that the land itself would be FREE to those that join and decide to come!.. and I might just have some amazing news on that front, so watch this space!
Your responses were so varied, and it was good for me to learn that each of us do have their own reasons for not living in an ecoVillage... and indeed a few of you who responded already do live in one! If you are here to read, don't miss the first post by @zeleiracordero ! I love the esoteric tone and deep wisdom contained in this post, beautiful!

"Nobody reach the top with the fear."
Life leads us along different paths and places us at crossroads where we often have to choose a route in a conscious, thoughtful and, above all, loved way. Because love is the main engine to take off towards a type of life that promises to be satisfactory in many important aspects: nature, awareness, peer growth, service, implementation of a project designed for years, experience, action. But, what stops the walkers of these great initiatives ... many times: fear. Fear of changes, fear of failure, fear of fear itself.
What things should be considered if the thought rushes the action of moving to live in an ecoVillage, or rural community?
Once, I read that desire is stagnant, it does not move the energies necessary to undertake great changes. However, major changes require large doses of desire, courage, fear, madness, actions and, above all, awareness. A mixture as strange as human. For this reason, it is necessary to define the last instance of the desire that has been empowered in calm waters, caressed as a soft pet and even coveted as an inner treasure that requests the attention of our mind to be taken to another spectrum of light: to other heads, to other worlds; to be taken out of our shadows and be exposed to the backlight to purge every trace of darkness.

Our ecoVillage
Is more of mind than of fact
And yet cherished still
The deceptively simple answer to this question is that, quite frankly, I'm not at all certain that I would want to live in an ecoVillage full time.
Why deceptively simple?
Because there are many aspects to the idea of an ecoVillage that I love, such as community, sharing, and building a peaceful community for the betterment of all involved.
At the same time, from a very early age, I discovered within myself a strong dose of wanderlust, which is amply shared by my husband, and both of us would like very much to be able to travel more, much more, to see more of the world, and to experience different cultures.

According to ancient Egyptian tradition, when someone died they were judged by Anubis before they could enter the afterlife. They had to stand before the jackal-headed god of the dead, who would place their heart on a scale. It was weighed against the truth, represented by an ostrich feather. If the heart was heavier than the feather, the soul would not be admitted into the realm of the dead, and was cursed to be eaten by the crocodile-headed Ammit.
Looking at Villages from the Outside, Then Experiencing Them from the Inside
The idea of living in a commune, an intentional community, or an ecovillage is nothing new for me. Ever since I was a teen I'd been fascinated by communal living, where you could on one hand make your own rules to live by, on the other hand have a community of like-minded individuals around you, to support and share the same experience with.

Answer: (if I ignore my health) my children, actually the two youngest.
I like traveling and for many years I did, I moved nearly every year.
To me, home is a feeling and not a house, a building. I like a new start, a new challenge but my children are getting older and it is time for them to get an education, to be able to study and start their own lives in a few year's time.
Might be at that time my time is over. If, I am happy I saw them grew up and they had the chance to know me.
Another fact is I do not know any ecovillage where I live.
I never heard anyone mention it. The people around me have their own water well, only gas bottles, some have electricity, part vegetables or animals to eat and they search wood or plant and cut trees for firewood.

Have a nice day ahead!
Living in an eco village is such the best choice to a growing older person like me. Many reason to be considered why I should do it. Every thing is organic, people around are so good. We have the mountain and a vacant space for us to grow any kind of plants. I need organic intake for my grandchildren. And of course a place with fresh air and there's no need using air condition. Living in the mountain could sustain us for a simple living even without electricity. And above all, I love my own native land.

I've been in a city before, I lived for almost a 3 years. It's true that living in a city was easy to earn money if you have a regular jon. But reality will always not good. If you're living in a good life, there arw other's who lives in a bad way of life. They say it's nice to live in a city because if you'll just hardworking you can easily find a job. Not all of it is true because if we compare the homeless in a city and in eco village. Homeless in the city are too many, unlike in eco village, it's hard to find one. Why is it?
Not all you wanted to eat in eco village is for sale. Just for example the vegetables leave's, vegetable fruit. There's no need for you to buy it because you can find a place to plant it there. I could say that if you're living in the city you can find it all, entertainment, food and technology. Then as time passed staying in a big city, I realised that not all you can find there. Unlike in eco village, most of them are your friends. Neighbour's and neighbours by neighbours. They can help you even in a little thing.

I've been following @eco-alex and his endeavors with the building of his Earthship and now the Eco-village and I love, love, love the whole concept.
Love it for it's sustainability, self sufficiency, the fact that it will be built on a gifting economy! Love that it will have folks living totally off-grid, with homes based on Earthship Biotecture, built using a design with complete autonomy and self-sufficiency in mind. To me, an ideal situation which seems more inline with how we are meant to be living on this earth.
If I were younger and my partner was in agreement I would jump on it in an instant! In fact we often comment on how, if we were starting over, we would be building an Earthship design on a beautiful spot we go walking to most days.
As it is, for the last few decades, we have been building our homestead in a forest community and although we are not totally off grid, we have built with self sufficiency in mind. We have a lovely, comfortable, home nestled in the forest.

What we have in mind is seldom.what reality brings us (sooner or later). Actually each village (of farmers) could be an eco village, sun panels, no waist, no shops, cars not allowed for example.
The thing is if you count on equal minded you will be disappointed. We can be equal minded if it comes to some aspects but not everything. That would take all personality away.
